"Little can be as momentous for a work as its encounter with an extraordinary interpreter. And today – there’s no doubt about it – Fauré has found his voice in that of Cyrille Dubois. A bright, clear timbre and impeccable diction undoubtedly contribute to the remarkable complicity that we witness, but its secret lies above all perhaps in the French tenor’s singular ability to convey an atmosphere, evoke an emotion, a feeling, a mood – in short, bring out all the poetic qualities of the music.
In this ambitious project, Cyrille Dubois and his long-standing recital partner, the pianist Tristan Raës, take on the complete art songs – mélodies – of Gabriel Fauré: over a hundred settings of texts by poets including Paul Verlaine, Victor Hugo, Théophile Gautier and Charles Baudelaire, but also Armand Silvestre, Charles Van Lerberghe, Jean de La Ville de Mirmont, and many others. For the very first time, all of the composer’s songs are performed here by one singer. And never have Fauré’s vaporous, muted dreams been more transparent. In the run-up to the centenary of his death, may this happy event further the composer’s fortunes, and contribute to a renewed awareness of his modernity."

"Peu d'événements marquent autant une œuvre que la rencontre entre un compositeur et un interprète. Et c'est aujourd'hui certain, Fauré a trouvé sa voix : c'est celle de Cyrille Dubois. Si son timbre clair et lumineux ainsi que sa diction irréprochable concourent bien évidemment à cette alchimie, le secret de leur connivence réside peut-être dans la singulière capacité du ténor à suggérer une atmosphère, à évoquer une sensation – bref, la poésie de sa musique, tout simplement.
L’aède Dubois et son complice Tristan Raës se mettent donc au service de l'œuvre fauréenne et de ses poètes (Paul Verlaine bien sûr, mais aussi Armand Silvestre, Charles Van Lerberghe ou Jean de La Ville de Mirmont) dans une intégrale des mélodies. Audacieux projet, encore jamais entrepris par un seul et même chanteur : c'est désormais chose faite. Jamais les songes vaporeux de Fauré, tout en demi-teinte, n'étaient apparus si limpides. Près d’un siècle après sa mort, puisse cet heureux rendez-vous contribuer à la fortune du compositeur, et à la conscience renouvelée de sa modernité."
